Swimming...

ON any given day in the summer, you can usually find us outside (and we all have the tan lines to prove it)...like today, Lukie and Lex spent most of the morning playing with the neighbor kids...we spent most of the afternoon at the pool...and we'll be going to a playoff town team baseball game tonight...

But at the pool, Lex has made some strides this summer...for years, she has plugged her nose every time she went underwater...whether that was bobs, jumping in off the slide, the diving board, slides, etc.  I had constantly been trying to get her to stop, but she always said water will get in her nose.  I gave her tips on how to keep the water out.  I told her that she'd be able to do so much more if she wasn't holding her nose.  I'm pretty sure she was going with the idea that 'dad's wrong.'

But finally, somewhere in June, she stopped plugging her nose.  And she loved it!  Then she wanted to learn to dive...she's getting pretty good off the side, she's had some big belly flops off the board, but she keeps going...

And yes...Lukie put himself where he did in order to interfere with Lex as much as possible...

With me changing positions, we tried again...

After taking those pictures, Lukie of course said 'take some of me!'  Like he wasn't in every picture so far...

He does pretty well diving...

He became a fish a couple of summers back and spends a lot of time swimming...

But will do anything off the board - flips, cannonballs, can openers etc...

Tomorrow we head north on a five night, six day camping trip.  Eventually, we'll make the Gunflint Trail again for a couple of nights...going to be fun...
