MN Zoo...

We went to the zoo yesterday, largely because we heard that the Canadian lynx kitten (born in May) was placed on exhibit recently.  Lex loves animals of all kinds and the lynx is one of Lukie's favorite animals at the zoo, so off we went...

Our first stop, like most trips to the zoo, was Discovery Bay, where we saw a pufferfish 'puffing' for the first time...

That was very cool...not sure what caused that...

Then, we had to touch the sharks...

But we really wanted to get to the Minnesota Trail to see the lynx.  About that time, a storm rolled in and dropped about an inch of rain.  The skies got dark, light night and the animals were really worked up...like this cougar...

Then we found the lynx kitten...not that worked up, but alert...

We take pictures of the animals every time we see them somewhere new...we've never see the komodo dragon here before (we've only seen it on the ground a handful of times)...

Lukie likes the gibbons, Lex likes the flamingoes...

We took in a dive show...

We've never seen the Burmese python here before either...

Outside, we helped the crayfish cross the road...(see Lukie's hat?  He hasn't taken it off when he's awake since he was given it...he's been wearing it all the time)...

The moose were up and active (makes up for not seeing any moose on the Gunflint)...

Then it was off to Llama Trek (which closes Labor Day) to see three more babies, the youngest of which is right over Lex's head...

In all, Lex counted nine babies (not counting farm animals) at the zoo yesterday...

The largest grizzly bear was active...

It's size dwarfs all of us...

The sea otter though?  It was taking a nap while floating in the water...

Before we left, we had to check out Discovery Bay one more time to see the pufferfish...what we saw was the eel on the move...

It was a great day for making more memories...
