DinoFest...

The science museum had a new event over the weekend called DinoFest and Lukie wanted to go...so he and I put on our matching 'tyrant lizard king' t-rex shirts and took off for the museum to see some Dinosaurs...

Before we even got into the museum...Lukie made a T-Rex skull button...

Without Lex being there, he could do what ever he wanted and for a longer time...like piloting the barge down the Mississippi...

But we were there for the Dinos...like digging out bones and putting them together...

We saw the fossils of a 40-foot long relative of a mosasaurus (giant marine lizard that lived the same time as the dinosaurs)...

This is the actual size of a T-Rex skull...Lukie would be just a snack...

But we took the time to see the other parts of the museum too, like the tornado, it's always a hit...

The Paleontology Lab was open, so you could see the workers preparing recent finds...

Lukie built and then flew a 'dino-glider'...

But it was really cool to look and feel dinosaur tracks...

Here Lukie is looking at MN fossils from marine organisms (shark teeth, oysters, etc.) that are found on the Iron Range in places like Calumet...

I got to get my face on the giant astronaut...I'd never done that...

Lukie got to break apart some rock in the hopes of finding fossils (none were found)...

The picture below shows the length of the largest fish ever to live in MN...this was back when the dinosaurs existed...

Lukie got to put this star wheel together...Luke and Lex can never agree on how to do it, so it never gets done...

Together, we built a pyramid out of legos...

Of course we visited the Sportsology exhibit and played with the slow-motion cameras...

But we were really there for dinosaurs...

Before leaving, we took one quick view at the Mississippi and we're off...a good day...
