The Raiders girls had clinched a spot in the state tournament a week ago and of course Lukie/Lex went to work putting together another card for Mary (it might be the last one she receives from them)...
The card was delivered early in the week and then it was a waiting game until the State Quarterfinals Wednesday night at 8:00 pm. The #5 seeded Raiders faced the #4 seeded Minnehaha Academy...
What do you do before the game? You find a Sasquatch...
Then you find your seats and take the usual picture we take...
We felt very welcomed to the State Tournament...
Then the team comes out and you're ready to roll...
All of warmups, Lukie/Lex are just ready for the game to start...then it does...
It was a close game, a lot of back and forth...
Some spots got pretty close and the nervousness set in...but that's why you have timeouts...
But eventually, the Raiders wore them down and it became a free-throw game for them...and the Raiders made their free-throws...opening a bit of a lead...
They ended up winning by 9, awesome game...winning that first game ensured that they would have two more games in the state tournament...the semifinal game, with a chance to go to the championship game or worst case the third place game...
It's been a fun ride this school year watching the teams...can't wait to see how it ends...
I say this a lot...take your kids to a High School sporting event...then keep taking them...let them follow a team or a player...its amazing to watch, it makes it all so worthwhile...
I can name every player Kieran latched onto and followed closely...he had a blast watching them...
With Lukie it's different though, he's gotten a chance to meet (and to get to know really well) his person...and to get to know her some and find out how good of a person she is...he's found a heck of a role model...
Can't wait for the tournament to continue...
