We saw it last year and it was cool...they let you walk around the exhibit with Kangaroos and Wallaby's free to roam...the emu's are caged, mean looking birds...since it was about 85 degrees and after noon, the kangaroos were pretty relaxed...
But we did see one 'joey' or at least it's legs, it stayed pretty tucked into the pouch (you might be able to see the legs sticking out of the pouch of the kangaroo in the shade)...
Lukie wished they had a real saltwater crocodile...
We'll be back this summer a couple of times and make sure to catch the kangaroos being active...
From there, we finished the Northern Trail, first looking at the prairie dogs, which Lex said 'we're so cute...'
Then the bison, (there were baby animals all over the zoo, including three baby bison called red dogs) here Lex is saying 'look at the baby bison!'...
And Lukie and I were like 'why don't you look at the baby right in front of you?' Eventually Lex found that one and said 'there's another baby bison' while Lukie just rolled his eyes....
Lex made a friend (who probably wanted to eat her) at the grizzly bear exhibit...
It just followed her along...
It's feet were huge compared to little Lexy...
Checked out the sea otter exhibit, where we texted Kieran this picture, Lukie said he'd want to see it...
And then we went into Discovery Bay to catch the program on Hawaiian Monk seals...
By the time the program was done, all the school groups had left and the zoo was basically deserted. Discovery Bay was empty...that's when I saw the group of sand eels and immediately asked Lex if this is where she got the idea for a 'worm garden' for AAA and she said yes...
One more program was caught was an outdoor one that compared anteaters of South America to skunks of North America...here the zookeeper is carrying around a skunk...right in front of Lex (which Lukie was saying 'spray her...')...
Before we left, there was a quick stop at the penguins...and then we were gone...
It was a fun day...
