Lock and Dam #1

The plan was to visit Minnehaha Falls (which we did for a little while), but then we stumbled into something else...the falls were packed and Lukie/Lex played at the park for a while, but we had a great time...

The falls have a bit of ice hanging on...

There were lots of people above and below the falls...

After playing at the park for 30-40 minutes, we stumbled onto a trail that could take of to the Ford Lock and Dam...one the trail we found this (which led to a fun discussion)...wonder how long it's been there?

We had to take a picture when we got to the sign indicating that this was Lock and Dam #1 on the Mississippi...of course, Lukie loves to have some moronic moments and loved seeing this picture later...

Lex was worried about falling in at the beginning, but loved it once we got there...

You can get right up and close with both the Lock and the Dam...

Both Lukie/Lex loved the hint of a rainbow when we got close to the dam...

I couldn't imagine them being co-captains on any ship for long...

While having fun, we had a good learning discussion on what Locks/Dams are...and how they're useful on rivers...

On the way back, we stumbled across evidence of someone who was trying to be smart...but...missed it by 'this' much...their chemistry teacher would have winced...
