Minneopa State Park

This morning (Sunday) the boys and drove down to Minneopa to see the waterfall, even with the chilly temperatures.  With all the rain recently we wanted to see how the falls were running.  It's by far the most water I've ever seen going over the falls.  We spent a little over two hours at the falls area, the boys doing their usual running, chasing, tackling and in general playing with each other.  Kieran loves waterfalls......

For those interested, Minneopa is a double waterfall - the first falls is about 10 feet and the second is around 40 feet in height.  The waterfall results from differences in the cementation of sand grains in the Jordan sandstone.  Areas cemented quite firmly form the tops of the waterfalls, with areas that are more weakly cemented are easily eroded.  Minneopa dates back to when Glacial River Warren created a 'nick point', the falls have crept upstream about three-quarters of a mile since.
