One of the day trips we took from Judge Magney state park was to the border with Canada at Grand Portage State Park. We've been there before, but it was a short drive to see the highest waterfall in Minnesota (of course we share it with Canada)...

This is below the falls...the river flows over the resistant diabase and erodes the slate beneath (creating the falls). Here, we're well below the falls and can see the slate itself...
A short distance away is an overlook where you can see Isle Royale (part of Michigan). Lex is taking a picture and Lukie is looking through binoculars to see a lighthouse on one of the islands of Isle Royale...
It was a nice, short day trip to the area...
